Kevin Bell
Kevin is 42 years old, and is married with 3 children. He successfully completed an honours degree in Physiotherapy in 1997. He worked as a Chartered Physiotherapist at Hartlepool general hospital for 16 months as well as part-time for Newcastle United, specialising in manual therapy and orthopaedics. He was offered a job at Newcastle United as 2nd academy physio full-time in November 1998.
This post entailed the management of all academy schoolboy players aged 8 to 16 consisting of approximately 100 players. He also assisted the 1st team Physios and head academy physio when required. This gave him valuable experience in treating first team and reserve team players as well as learning from the other Physios. He was promoted to head academy Physio in July 2001. He then became responsible for the full-time academy squads with overall responsibility for the physiotherapy provision of all academy players. He ran the department for 5 years and became very experienced in child and adolescent sports injury.
He has also completed a 2 year post-graduate diploma in sport and exercise medicine at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff and is currently conducting a MSc research project investigating football injuries sustained by academy players.
Kevin has also completed numerous manual therapy courses including acupuncture.
